Lot Description
**Colt New Service Model 1917 Army
World War I

.45 ACP. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 127205. Colt brushed blued metal finish with smooth walnut grips and mounting a lanyard loop to the butt. Double-action hand ejector six-shot revolver mounting topstrap notch and front blade sights. Markings include U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917 to the butt, and UNITED STATES PROPERTY along the underside of the barrel. An {Eagle's Head/S15} inspector mark is struck into the upper left frame. No inspector stamps visible on the stocks, which show signs of sanding and refinishing. Further stamps include H initial to the rear cylinder and underside of barrel, along with a C on the left triggerguard. Standard Colt New Service pattern production marks include the {Rampant Colt} to the sideplate COLT D.A. 45 on the left barrel, and two line address and patent atop the barrel reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A./PAT'D AUG. 5, 1884. JUNE 5, 1900. JULY 4, 1905. The assembly number assigned by Colt on the internal frame reads 276490.

Condition Report

Good. Bore is Bright with strong rifling throughout. Metal finish is thinning overall. Brown patina dominates on forward barrel, and a gray patina is forming in the losses on the cylinder. Moderate edgewear overall with a light turn ring to the cylinder. Hammer displays a gray patina forming. Gripstraps are a brown patina. Grips show some indentations that have been smoothed over by sanding, and rounded edges indicative of refinishing. Markings on the butt are shallow and covered with a brown patina. Action shows good timing.
