Christian Lacroix Couture Ensemble From Ebony Fashion Fair, Fall 2001

This ensemble was purchased by Eunice Walker Johnson of Johnson Publishing Company and worn in the Ebony Fashion Fair. 

This ensemble includes a blouse of light blue pin tucked chiffon and net lace with goldtone and light pink thread accents, blue and green fur sleeve, and zippered center back closure. Pants of green velvet appliques overlaid on light blue chiffon threaded with silvertone metallic thread and blue rhinestones, one leg is black chiffon with white tufts and strands of silver Mylar sequins attached with pink ribbon bow. Blue satin wired "rib cage" styled piece embellished with goldtone coil, rhinestones, fur, sequins, and beads on top four "ribs".

Condition Report
Condition: 
 
BLOUSE
The overall condition is poor with several areas of loss. Front neckline is heavily discolored due to wear and it is detached from the center back zipper to mid back. Right sleeve is wired at shoulder and is misshapen with many holes in the lace overlay. The chiffon on the right sleeve is heavily soiled and have several snags throughout. The left fur sleeve is torn from the bodice at the shoulder with signs of past repairs. The fur sleeve is pulling apart at the hem and is discolored due to wear inside the pelt. The bodice is soiled from wear, most noticeably at front right bust and waist level. The bodice lace overlay has several holes throughout, primarily at waist and along hemline. The chiffon at the base of the center back zipper is stressed and warped.  

PANTS
The overall condition is fair. There is a hole in the left hip chiffon near the waistband as well as several small holes throughout the pants due to construction. There is some discoloration due to wear in the waistband and left leg hole.   

RIB CAGE
The overall condition is fair. The satin has worn away on the lower six "ribs" tips and there is considerable abrasion at the inner lower back. There are hanging threads throughout. There is a popped seam on the third "rib" down on the left. There are hanging strands of beading missing from the first and second "ribs" on both left and right sides. 

BELT
The overall condition is fair with several rhinestone strands and chains broken around large set rhinestones and front soldering encrusted area. There are many areas of tarnish (possibly by design). Part of the extension chain has broken off and is kept with item.
