Lot Note:
These portraits, painted by James E. Bama, depict two friends of the artist on their wedding day in 1961. The sitters, Larry and Dian, were amongst some of Bama's closest friends, and often modeled for the artist, appearing on many of Bama's book cover illustrations. While not representative of Bama's typical Western subject matter, the two portraits are nonetheless testament to Bama's lauded hyperrealist technique and skill at conveying the affect and personality if his subjects.
