Publisher's brown cloth blocked in black with gilt lion-and-sun pictorial on upper cover, gilt-stamped spine (lightly rubbed, corners bumped, discreet library label on spine). FIRST EDITION. Henry Walter Bellew was a British medical officer, bonr in India, who spent his time working in Afghanistan, where he studied the languages and cultures.
