Travels in Lycia, Milyas, and the Cibyratis. London: John van Voorst, 1847.2 volumes, 8vo (216 x 142 mm). Half-titles, 2 lithographic frontispieces, 25 lithographic plates, hand-colored lithographic folding map, numerous wood-cuts in text. Original blue cloth, spines gold-stamped (discreet library stamp on spines.) FIRST EDITION of the first comprehensive description of Lycia, an area which was unexplored until Captain Beaufort surveyed the coast in 1811. Sir Charles Fellows provided the first account of the interior, after visiting in 1838 and 1840.
