David Hockney Print to Highlight Hindman Prints & Multiples Auction
CHICAGO – Hindman’s May 12th Prints & Multiples auction will include a remarkable session of modern and contemporary master prints. David Hockney’s Lithograph of Water Made of Lines (lot 77; estimate: $50,000-70,000), from his most sought-after series of prints, was created at the pinnacle of his print making career and serves as an anchor to the session that heavily features American and British Pop Art.

Dorothea Lange’s iconic photograph Migrant Mother, Nipomo California, 1936 (lot 179; estimate: $50,000-70,000) will be the focal point of the photography session. Among the most recognized images in the history of photography, this work has been reproduced countlessly, but only recently has the real story of this famous image come to light, inspiring everything from History Channel specials to museum exhibitions attempting to unravel the mystery of the seemingly simple image.
