Fine Art Team Adds Director Joe Stanfield in Chicago and Monica Brown in Denver

Hindman is pleased to announce that Joe Stanfield has joined the firm as Director of Fine Art. Mr. Stanfield began his career with Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in 2006 and has since risen in the industry as a fine art expert. He joins the Chicago headquarters as director at a time when the firm’s Denver office is also bringing on fine art expert Monica Brown.

Mr. Stanfield has spent his career in Chicago, working for national auction houses Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and Toomey & Co. Auctioneers. He is an active member of the Sustaining Fellows at The Art Institute of Chicago and The Arts Club of Chicago. During his eight years at Toomey & Co., Mr. Stanfield has overseen important collections such as the Tribune Tower Collection, the Warshawsky Collection, the Estate of Candice B. Groot, the collection of Governor Jim Thompson, the Estate of Robert E. Beck, the Estate of Robert E. “Butch” McGuire, the Estate of Frank Ternenyi and many others. He now returns to Hindman where he started his career as a fine art specialist and helped to grow the post war and contemporary art category of the department

As Director of Fine Art at Hindman, Mr. Stanfield will lead the national fine art team across Post War and Contemporary Art, American and European Art and Fine Prints categories. These departments are based in Chicago but support a number of experts across the firm’s seven other locations. He will lead the department in valuation services and determining the best approach to offering property at auction.

Fine art experts are located in Palm Beach, Atlanta and St. Louis. The Denver location of Hindman welcomes fine art Senior Specialist Monica Brown to the team this March.

The Fine Art department conducts three auctions annually of Post War and Contemporary Art, Fine Prints and American and European Art in addition to a number of curated online only auctions. They travel nationally to appraise paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photography and collections for private clients, estates and institutions nationwide.
