Lot Description
High-Quality Floral Silk Brocade Skirt and Silk Satin Petticoat, 1890s
The skirt is made of a high-quality heavy silk brocade in a rose pattern. Mint condition and high quality craftsmanship. Wearable. The center front opening is edged in cream silk satin and reveals a cream silk satin layer down the center front. The deep pleats at the center back hide the hook and eye closure. A wide pleated ruffle of cream silk satin is handsewn to the dress around the hem. Lined with a crisp cream silk taffeta. While there are no fabric labels, the hooks of the center back closure read 'Nicholls'.The entirely hand-sewn petticoat is made of cream silk satin with two pleats at the center back that hide a hook and eye closure. There is a wide flounce of cream lace underlined with pleated silk chiffon. Unlabeled
Condition Report
While there is minor soiling around the pleated hem of the skirt, this item is in near mint condition and is wearable. Although the petticoat is in very good condition and is wearble, there are brown stains on the left hip.
