A Worth Purple Velvet and Jet Cape, 1890s No size label
Purple silk velvet trimmed with black lace and embellished with jet that falls into fringe. A pleated silk chiffon ruffle wraps neckline and extends down the center front. The center front closes with hooks and eyes. The jet beads have ages poorly and have bleached the purpled velvet in small dot patterns. Label: Worth

Condition Report
The cape is in stable condition but the beads have started to bleach the surrounding velvet. The lining of the stand collar is fragle and broken. A tack has broken on the back collar and has released a small ruffle of black silk. The Approximate Flat Measurements Across Front: Shoulder: 14" The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use.
