Lot Description
Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk, 19th Century

Late 19th century steamer trunk in Damier canvas, bound in wood slats and black painted metal hardware, metal handles, the monogram "B" set inside a diamond shape on either end, with fittings for a leather strap on the front, mounted on metal casters. The interior lined in ivory canvas, with lower removable tray and the lid is studded with pink ribbon taping and lined in ivory ticking. There are several travel stickers on each of the handle sides.

Condition Report
Condition:

The trunk is heavily worn but is structurally sound. The metal binding is heavily dented but is in tact with no missing rivets and the wood slats are worn but in tact. The lock and draw bolts are operable and includes a working key. The leather strap on front is intact though with a notch missing. The interior is missing the top tray but the bottom tray is intact with some spots; the straps are intact and in good working order. Lining is good though it is worn away at the top opening and a few buckles in the back. the lid ribbon tacking has some broken strips but the studs are mostly intact. The lid lining has a hole in the lower back as well as a few smaller ones near the top, the lining on the  inner lid front corners is pulling away from the frame. The casters are in good working condition though worn.
