Specializing in period and finely customed furniture, the firm supplied numerous European and Eastern courts, and particularly the Spanish Crown and the Persian royal family.
Mercier Frères participated in the Universal Exhibitions of 1868 and 1900. In 1914, the firm opened a branch in Buenos Aires, and later a store, the Palais de Marbre, at 7712 avenue des Champs-Élysées in 1920. In 1927, a branch was opened in New York at 232-236 E. 59th Street.
