Lot Description
Louis Vuitton Double Wardrobe Trunk, ca. 1930s
Double wardrobe trunk covered in monogram canvas with natural Lozine leather trim and handles, and brass hardware, lock plate numbered 053421. The interior is lined in orange vuittonite, has two versions of 18 wood Louis Vuitton stamped hangers with four plan non-LV hangers, and two dust ruffles on collapsible racks, and a brown felt lined shoe case. The topside end has a circular design with a yellow stepped lined painted opposite the handle.

Condition Report
Condition:
The overall condition is good structurally though the trunk is well used. The front opening is bowed prohibiting the center latch from closing fully though the side front clasps still close with some effort. The exterior monogrammed canvas, wood slats, leather, and hardware show heavy wear, especially along the bottom when stood upright, and the entirety of the exterior appears to have a varnish or other type of finished that has darkened the color. The base, when upright, has a removed painted emblem between the wood feet and there is more wear to the surrounding canvas. The hardware has retained most if its original finish though heavy wear has smashed, filed down, or is otherwise scratched and etched. One of the base leather handle loops has broken on one end and the other end's handle is intact but cracking. The interior lining is mostly intact with a few wrinkles and some splits mostly along the longer lengths of the trunk. One of the linen dust covers has heavily discolored though no other defects are visible. Due to the bowing of the front, the interior metal locking plates have likewise bowed on the base/left side of the trunk but still useable. The shoe case is in very good structural condition with wear noticeable on each of the exterior corners, and some darkened spots on the handle and base sides of the case. The interior of the shoe case is clean with some wear consistent with normal wear.
