A Napoleon III Style Ebonized Marble-Top Cabinet

Late 19th Century

the top of the case stamped HOEFER/ Rue St. Antoine 205. Place de la Bastille/ PARIS.
Height 40 x width 51 3/4 x depth 17 1/2 inches.

Condition Report

Old Scuffs, marks and scratches throughout. Scattered areas of splitting to ebony veneer consistent with age. Some loss to veneer to one side of case. Age cracks to both doors. Lifting, peeling and loses to brass inlay particularly on front corners and front apron of case. One door opens but does not seem firmly affixed to case, other door appears to be stuck closed. Comes with two shelves for interior but no key for door lock. Marble top appears intact with some scattered scratches and a chip to top at back center. Stain to left side of marble.
