4 volumes, 8vo (216 x 126 mm). General title and volume titles to each volume. (Title-pages soiled, general titles to vols. III and IV with tape repairs, some minor browning or spotting.) Modern calf gilt; cloth slipcase.
First edition of the first translation of the ancient Greek Old Testament (the Septuagint) into English. The 1808 Jane Aitken Bible has the dual distinction of being the first English translation of the Septuagint and the first printing by a woman of any part of the Holy Scriptures in America.
