the rich roiro ground lacquered in gold takamaki-e with highlights of kirikane, showing a continuous outdoor scene with a house besides rockery between bamboo, blossoming prunus trees and fruiting peach trees, inlaid with mix-metal twelve zodiac, the interior of nashiji, inscribed on an inlaid mother-of-pearl tablet Hogyoku; with a red glass ojimi.

Condition Report
Presenting well in overall good stable condition. Some rubbing to the gilt and lacquer details, particularly to the pig and at the seams between the cases. One case showing two small apparent punctures to the lacquer. Of the 12 animals, the monkey and ox are missing: the monkey from the branches of the peach tree, and the ox on the opposite side from the lower left corner. The silhouette of each still visible.
