Eight Mixed Metal Kozuka with Kogatana Blades
18TH/19TH CENTURY
comprising four shakudo nanakoji examples each with gilt inlays, the first decorated with a heron and a leafy branch, the blade signed 津田越前守助廣, the second showing a praying mantis flanked by two lady bugs, unsigned, the third with a man leaning and a massive catfish, the blade with inscriptions, the fourth showing a flying crane underneath foliate branch and above rushing waves, the blade signed Kiyonaga 清長; three copper examples, the first chased with a flying crane, signed Noriyuki with a kao, made at 73 years old 七十三戈 矩隨, the second with gilt metal inlays showing pine trees and rockery, the blade signed, the third with bronze inlays showing a standing man with an eagle resting on his arm, the blade with inscriptions; a shibuichi example chased with a tiger underneath clouds, the blade signed Noshu Seki magoroku kudai zensho Fujiwara Kanemoto saku kore 濃州関住孫六九代善定藤原兼元作之.
