An Unusual Scrimshaw Panbone Oval Ditty Box With Engraved Surfaces and Panbone Bottom
Mid 19th Century
with engraved decoration on visible surfaces including a full-rigged ship with American ensign, a patriotic eagle, two houses and a large tree, and the whole trimmed with decorative 'umbrella' device.
Height 1 3/4 x length 4 1/2 inches.

In overall fine and stable condition. Old age split to lid, not through. With small loss to side of top and small loss to rim of lid band. Small loss to one finger on box.
