A Bronze Okimono of A Tiger
BY SEIKOKU, MEIJI PERIOD. LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
naturalistically cast to show a waking tiger walking on a detachable hardwood base, carved in the form of rockery, the beast carrying a fierce expression, cast with detailed mane, the underside bearing a three-character maker's mark, Seikoku iru, 誠谷鑄.
Length of figure 20 x height 8 1/4 in., 50.8 x 20.95 cm.
