A Blue and White Porcelain 'Birthday' Bowl
QIANLONG PERIOD (1735-1796)
清乾隆 青花纏枝蓮托八吉祥紋萬壽無疆碗
having rounded wall rising to an slightly flaring mouth rim, all supported on a straight foot over a recessed base. The exterior painted with evenly spaced roundels reserved by ruyi borders enclosing stylized characters reading wanshou wujiang (boundless long life), all against a ground of lotus sprays and auspicious symbols between wispy scroll and petal lappet bands, the interior with a roundel of auspicious symbols encircling a shou medallion; incised to the base with a six-character seal mark.

Area of overpainting to cover up a chip associated with a 2 1/4 inch hairline. Section of overpainting 3 x 0.5 inches, otherwise stable.
