The Sherman Station stands at center with a two-locomotive train parked out front surrounded by a large crowd of people. Four men pose next to a handcar on a parallel track. Several flatcars and a distant smokestack are visible on the left. A solitary mustachioed figure leans against a pole in front of the Sherman House with a large sign reading "Bar Room." A carriage with two horses hitched is parked between the station and the hotel. The Sherman House was one of two inns, Summit House being the other. Additionally, the town hosted two saloons, a general store, a post office, and a schoolhouse. 

Named after William Tecumseh Sherman, the frontier town was about 7.5 miles from the highest point on the original alignment of the Union Pacific Railroad's First Continental Railroad. The stop featured a 5-stall roundhouse and turntable enabling trains to change engines. The station house, however, closed in 1918 and the settlement became a ghost town.
