Condition Report

The marble is in excellent condition, the carving is strong and crisp in the details and the color is consistent, there is minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is also natural veining to the marble. The edges are rough and left unfinished. However, the base edge has been smoothed and leveled so that it is able to stand upright. There are minor chips to the edge of the relief and a small chip to the Virgin's halo. Overall very attractive. The palette from delivery has been saved for shipping purposes. At the top, the marble is thickest at 8 inches, this tapers gradually to the base which is 5 1/2 inches thick.
