Four Chinese Transparent Five Color Overlay Glass Articles
18TH/19TH CENTURY
清中期 淡黃地套藍綠料獸紋天球瓶、淡黃地套綠料鳳紋石榴尊、綠地套五彩料蓋盒及小賞瓶
comprising a transparent green circular box and conforming cover, all raised above a banded honey-toned splaying foot, carved through the polychrome overlay in high relief with chilong winding through tufts of cloud scrolls; a stout bottle vase of translucent swirled white and yellow glass, worked to the globular body and columnar neck in opaque and transparent tones to show mythical beasts. The third example an unusual pale jar, worked from the yellow and white glass with an integral rocky base of naturalistic form, applied with transparent phoenix overlay. The last a petite transparent green vase, the body of shield form and rising to a foliate mouth rim, the ruby overlay carved with chilong amidst lingzhi sprigs.

The small vase with a chip at the mouth rim. The 'rockwork' vase with bites at the foot. The large vase with flaking bruise and old restoration to the footring. Flaking and minor to the overlay of the large vase, censer, and box.
