Lot Description
A Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze and Chinese Porcelain Mounted Pagoda-Form Mantel Clock
CIRCA 1740
the case worked in gilt bronze in the form of a three tiered pagoda, the rounded base having a pull-out drawer in the form of a staircase flanked by latticed banisters, which enclose two Blanc-de-Chine glazed porcelain figures standing as attendants to a turquoise glazed figure of Budai. Each eave terminating in ring suspended bells, the first of which is supported by curvilinear columns. The drum-shaped clock with a white porcelain dial and Roman numerals comprises the second tier, with a second turquoise glazed porcelain figure occupying the chamber at the top.

Condition Report
In working condition. Movement has been restored. No key present. The case in overall good stable condition, with some rubbing to the gilding and light surface marks. The interior felt of the pull-out drawer with wear. Slight bend to the top tier and finial, which can likely be adjusted with relative ease. The porcelain elements appear within good condition, insofar as examination within mountings permits.
