Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 3 CDVs, featuring outdoor views of W.T. Sherman on horseback and Christopher Augur and staff.
CDV of W.T. Sherman astride his Kentucky thoroughbred "Lexington" taken shortly after the evacuation of Atlanta. New York: C.D. Fredricks & Co., [1860s]. (Light scattered spotting, toning; edge wear to mount, incl. abrasion along left edge of mount). Sherman is shown looking north from the inner ring of the city's abandoned field fortifications. The 12 lb. Napoleon located close by is a captured Confederate gun. -- CDV of General Christopher Augur and staff. Washington, DC: Alexander Gardner, [1860s]. (Image has lightened, few spots; corner/edge wear to mount). -- CDV of uniformed young man on horseback. New York: Rockwood, [1860s].
