Lot Description
Private Daniel Hudson, Company K, 5th Ohio Volunteers, silver corps badge engraved with battle honors, incl. Winchester, Port Republic, Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Dumfries, and Chancellorsville.
1 7/8 in. silver badge (retains original T-bar pin). Pierced center engraved with a number "5," surrounded by engraved identification to “D. Hudson Co. K, 5’ Reg. O.V,” and battle honors listed near each point of the star, including Winchester (Kernstown), Port Republic, Cedar Mountain, Antietam, and Dumfries. Chancellorsville is inscribed on verso.
Daniel E. Hudson enlisted as a private on 19 June 1861 when he was just 19 years of age. Almost exactly three years later he was mustered out on 20 June 1864. After the war, he lived in Cincinnati, OH, and was buried in that city at Spring Grove Cemetery.
