Lot Description
[FRANKLIN, Benjamin (1706-1790)]. Essex Journal & New Hampshire Packet. No. 306. Newburyport, MA: John Mycall, 12 May 1790.
4pp., folio, 10 3/4 x 17 in. Disbound (almost fully separated at centerfold, wear and toning to fold lines throughout, chipping and some small tears to edges). Provenance: Library of Stephen Foreman (blindstamp on newspaper, p.1, lower right). Period ink inscription on front page, near top left corner, "Jonathan Greeley Esq."
The newspaper contains an inside page, full column obituary covering the death of Benjamin Franklin. This lengthy, detailed obituary also includes the contents of Franklin’s last will and testament.
