Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Exceptionally clear sixth plate ruby ambrotype of armed New Hampshire infantryman. Ca early 1860s.

Sixth plate hand-tinted and gilt ruby ambrotype. (Exceptional tonality and clarity.) Housed in a full pressed paper case (split hinge rebacked, light wear to extremities). 

Early war-date ambrotype of unidentified armed New Hampshire infantryman wearing the distinctive "deerstalker" headgear peculiar to both the 3rd and 4th New Hampshire Infantry. The subject looks directly into the camera while holding his bayonetted rifle.
