Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 12 stereoviews of Fort Marion.

4 views with credit "By the Florida Club" and series titles "Scenes at St. Augustine" and "St. Augustine Views" printed on mount recto. One features ink inscription "Water battery F" and printed subject description on verso. -- 2 views with "Palmer's Stereoscopic Views" stamped on verso, one also featuring ink inscription reading, "Interior of Old Spanish Fort. / St. Augustine. / Fla." -- 6 views from the series, "Florida, The Land of Flowers and Tropical Scenery," with series title printed on mount recto, 4 with verso information about subject. -- Together, 12 stereoviews, 6 1/8 x 3 3/4 in. or smaller, on cardstock mounts. Some with toning and spotting throughout. Each with wear to mount edges and corners.

[With:] 5 3/8 x 3 3/4 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount (damage to image in a few places including upper edge and lower right corner, some spotting and toning to image, and mount with heavy wear including loss to edges and corners). Mount recto with printed series and image title: "Florida Views" and "Interior of Fort Marion. St. Augustine."

[Also with:] 5 7/8 x 3 1/8 in. stereoview on cardstock mount (surface soiling throughout, with wear to mount edges and corners). New York: E. & H.T. Anthony, n.d. Paper label affixed to verso with Anthony credit, series title, "War Views," and image title and number, "View of St. Augustine, Fla. / No. 3534." Mount recto with series titles.
