An Italian Chinoiserie-Decorated Painted Secretary Bureau

LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY

Height 106 1/4 x width 59 x depth 24 inches.

Condition Report

The painted finish appears to be original on the exterior. There are some minor scuffs, cupping, re-touching, and crazing to the painted surface consistent with age and use. The interior of the cabinet may have been repainted at some point and the painted finish is flaking in some areas. The interior painted surface of the bureau appears to be original. The key has been retained and most of the locks work. The lock for the central drawer does not work and the drawer does not open. The lock for the secretary case is broken but it opens and is unlocked. A section of trim measuring approximately 2 1/2 inches is missing from the proper left side. The section has been retained and could be restored. Please see the photographs for more information.
