A Blue and White Porcelain 'Lotus' Vase, Shangping
XIANFENG MARK AND POSSIBLY OF THE PERIOD
或爲清咸豐 青花纏枝花卉紋賞瓶
the bulbous body circumnavigated by a trio of three evenly space rings divided upper and lower registers, the lower section decorated with radiating flower heads issuing from a swirling network of leafy vines above a scrolling meander to the footring, the upper register having a ruyi collar beneath a further band of floral scrollwork, with lengths of lappets extending up the neck from a keyfret ring, where the ruyi and floral motif is repeated at the slightly flaring mouth rim.
