Lot Description
A Directoire Brass Mounted Mahogany Dining Table
19th Century
Height 29 x length 85 x depth 48 inches (fully extended).
Condition Report
Combined length of two demilune ends (excluding central leaf): 47 3/4 inches.
In overall good, stable and attractive condition with few scattered surface marks and dents to the table top. Light rubbing to brass mounts. Brass mounts lining the apron of the table dented and slightly misshapen in areas, few other portions exhibiting some glue residue evidencing re-attachment or reinforcement. Some splitting to the veneer throughout, though stable, possibly having been reinforced. When constructed in its fully-extended form, one demilune end raises slightly, with the furthest leg raised slightly off the ground; the opposite demilune sits with a slight gap between it and the central table section. Connections remain stable when attached. The support bar for the leaf is broken off at the corner, does not hinder use. Additional images available upon request.
