Condition Report
Sturdy, attractive and professionally conserved condition. The bed and baldachin are in mostly-original condition, with a few modifications made for stability in the 20th century. There appear to be modern gray-painted metal "collars" on the tops of the stiles where they fit into the supports for the baldachin, and modern hardware in some places to support the joinery. There are scuffs, scratches, small chips and worm holes throughout. The gray paint appears largely original, with a soft, mellow color which looks authentic, but there are areas where it has been enhanced in the 20th century (such as highlights and low lights added in the recesses of the fluted supports), and a few areas which have been repainted entirely with a flat, modern gray pigment. The linen upholstery is in good condition without large stains or tears.
The average size of a twin XL mattress is 79 1/2 x 38 inches,, which is the standard bed size that would best fit the frame.
