Lot Description
A Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Penwork and Marquetry Vitrine Commode
19th Century
the lock plates stamped Hobbs London.
Height 28 3/4 x width 34 x depth 20 1/2 inches.

Condition Report
With key, which functions in each lock. In overall good and sturdy condition. The mounts intact. Each drawer and the hinged vitrine top open and close smoothly. Each locking mechanism stamped Hobbs or Hobbs and Co. London, further stamped Machine Made and LSVFR. The decorated veneer with several instances of loss, cracking and raised areas, including one section of loss to the proper right side of the body, several sections of loss along a splitting line to the left side, and scattered instances to the drawer edges. The proper left side with an apparent area of repair in the decoration as well, slightly discolored.
