This cabinet is of similar form and design to an example in the collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum. It was likely carved by a student of Benn Pitman as the style and technique of the carving bears a strong resemblance to the work of Pitman's students. For additional information see Jennifer L. Howe, Cincinnati Art-Carved Furniture and Interiors (2003); pages 224-225.
