Seneca Black Tanned Quilled Moccasins
third quarter 18th century

thread and sinew-sewn; brightly quilled vamps, with linear designs; quilled cuffs, edged with red cloth and beaded with white seed beads

length 9-5/8 inches

To the right is a pair of Iroquois moccasins, probably of Revolutionary War vintage, but possibly from as early as the French and Indian War. (Hanson, 1994: 252)
