8vo. Half-title; wood-engraved frontispiece, engraved title (some spotting and staining). Publisher's red blind-blocked cloth, spine gilt (a few tiny holes or separations to joints, spine ends rubbed, slightly leaned). Provenance: Marion L. Tompkins (early signature on flyleaf). 

FIRST EDITION OF ALGER'S FIRST BOOK, a compilation of his poems and stories, most of which had been previously published in various periodicals.  Gardner 53. RARE: According to American Book Prices Current, only 5 copies of this work have sold at auction in the last 40 years.
