Lot Description
A Japanese Parcel Gilt Decorated Engraved Shakudo Flower Vase
TAISHO PERIOD (CIRCA 1925)
the cylindrical vase having a fitted removable copper liner, the exterior inlaid in gold, silver, copper and shibuichi showing lichen and reishi fungus emerging from rockworks with gilt bamboo behind, all underneath engraved characters from a poem, signed Mizunoe-inu no natsu nanajurokusai Hakudo Gen (by Hakudo Gen, age 76, summer, 1922), three gilded seals of the poet; vase signed Settsu Kaishozan no fumoto kokio Ryoun Moriyuki horu (carved by Ryoun Moriyuki, age 70, at the foot of Mount Kaisho, Settsu province) and sealed Moriyuki; with original box.
