A Pair of Regency Mahogany Terrestrial and Celestial Fifteen-Inch Library Globes
Newton, Son and Berry, London, 1836
the cartouche of the terrestrial globe marked Newton's/ New and Improved/ Terrestrial Globe/ Accurately delineated from the observations/ of the most esteemed/ Navigators and Travellers/ To the Present Time/ Manufactured by Newton, Son & Berry,/ 66, Chancery Lane./ London, Published Febr. 2d. 1836; the cartouche of the celestial globe marked Newton's Improved/ Celestial Globe,/ On which all the Stars are taken from the/ elaborate and most approved Catalogue of Piazza/ the Nebulas from Bode and the double Stars and/ those with proper motions from South./ The Right Ascensions & Declinations of the whole having been/ recalculated and accurately laid down for the year 1840/ By Mr. Newton./ Manufactured by Newton, Son & Berry Chancery Lane./ London, Published [...] 1836.

Condition Report
The stands are in good, stable condition. Old scuffs, marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. The terrestrial globe with a repaired crack running along equator from African coast of Indian Ocean to middle of Pacific Ocean, some other scattered areas of splitting to surface of globe. Some staining to globe in Europe and Mediterranean sea. The celestial globe with an area of restoration to the South Pole, possibly lacking a metal calendar dial at South Pole. Both globes rattle with lifted suggesting some elements have fallen into interior. Additional images available upon request.
