An Egyptian Polychrome Wood Mummy Mask
Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, 664-30 B.C.
Height 29 9/10 inches (76 cm).

From the lid of an inner coffin, this idealized portrait depicts its subject wearing a colorful Usekh (broad collar) and striped tripartite wig. The face is featured with full lips that round at the corners, a straight nose, inlaid eyes, and long eyebrows and cosmetic lines inset in glass.
Condition Report
Inspected with UV light and 10x loupe. Some areas of possible restoration to the face and throughout the mask which flouresce under UV light. Scattered instances of surface loss throughout, exposing the underlying gesso and linen. Losses or cracks to wood and pigment, albeit elements of the face are exceptionally preserved. Superficial splits, cracks, and dents throughout, does not affect the overall structure of the object. See additional photograpghs for condition. The back of the mask has been drilled in three places on the back to accommodate a modern metal stand. Overall fine and stable condition for an object from this age.
