Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A collection of late 19th-century photographs, mostly CDVs, including Civil War subjects. 

A collection of 70 CDVs (some featuring engravings), 15 tintypes, 2 mounted silver gelatin photographs, and one boudoir card, featuring a wide variety of photographer's imprints including Y. Day, Memphis; C.D. Fredericks, New York; Whitehurst, Washington DC; Fasset, Chicago; R. Caracachian, Constantinople; John D. Godeus, San Francisco; R.A. Miller, Boston; and many more. Subjects include Civil War soldiers, officers, and era politicians and personalities, including Henry Ward Beecher, Stephen A. Douglas, CSA General Simon B. Buckner, CSA General Gideon Pillow, CSA General Humphrey Marshall (engraving), Union General Winfield Scott, and others, some identified. Other subjects include an unidentified man in ful Knights Templar regalia (loss to upper left corner), a Turkish merchant, groups of people including veterans, children, and others.
