A George III Mahogany Tall Case Clock
Dial Signed John Johnson, Gray’s Inn Passage, Circa 1760

Condition Report

Width 20 3/8 x depth 9 inches. With weights, pendulum, case key and winding key. The base possibly re-shaped. The proper left side rail/foot of the base appears to be replaced. With a hairline crack to the glass of the hood in the proper left side. Some trim lacking surrounding window on left side of hood. Pilaster on back left corner of hood does not reach base of brass capital. Some bowing to veneer on sides of base. Finials likely later but are consistent with examples from the period. The works appear intact, clock takes a wind and appears to run. Not tested for accuracy nor duration. Clock attempts to strike on the hour but the fly-wheel and hammer no not engage.
