Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Tintype of Private Oliver W. Inskeep, Company F, 30th Iowa Regiment, with musket and fixed bayonet.
2 1/2 x 3 1/8 in. tintype. (Image a bit dark, but clarity and contrast remain very good.) Housed under mat, glass, and preserver only, no case (partially sealed to mat with foil tape). A standing view of Inskeep holding his musket and fixed bayonet, with a bayonet scabbard on his belt. His oval US buckle is tinted gold. Accompanied by a later family identification, with both written and typed notes, listing Inskeep and other members of the family who were originally from Ohio.
Oliver W. Inskeep served with Company F, 30th Iowa Regiment and saw action in Arkansas and at the Siege of Vicksburg before dying of disease in Memphis on 18 April 1863.
