Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. CDV-sized tintype of a Union soldier armed with a musket with bayonet.

2 x 3 1/8 in. tintype. (Strong clarity and contrast, some flaking to edges.) Housed in full pressed paper case (reinforced at hinge). A studio view of a Yankee soldier standing next to a chair, with his musket with bayonet in hand. He wears a cap box and bayonet scabbard on his belt. Note the leg visible along the right side of the frame, almost certainly belonging to the solder waiting to get his photograph taken next.
