Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Sixth plate ambrotype of Union privates displaying their knives.
Sixth plate ambrotype. (Minor spotting and usual abrasions around mat opening.) Housed in a Union case with scroll design (light chipping to edges, some soiling). A studio portrait of subdued Yankee pards threatening all Southerners with wicked knives stiffly raised at the ready. The privates wear regulation four button sack coats and forage caps, complete with equipage, including canteens and oil cloth haversacks. The prominent book on the leg of the soldier at left manifests as the Bible.

The physical condition of lots in our auctions can vary due to
age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and
restoration/repair. All lots are sold "AS IS," in the condition
they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make
no representation or warranty and assume no liability of any kind
