Condition Report
Framed: 29 1/2 x 33 in.
The canvas is wax-lined and stretched on a modern stretcher. There is restoration along the edges where the paint had lifted and flaked. The paint surface has been stabilized and flattened. There is very little craquelure visible, mostly on the woman's flesh areas. Under UV light: selective cleaning on the skin areas; the remaining darker areas are still under the opaque varnish. Inpainting to the man's hair srurrounding his face and to his forehead. Inpainting to the woman's sleeve; further inpainting to the dark background at upper left quadrant, which is very difficult to detect due to the heavy varnish.
