Manuscript receipt signed ("John Lawrence Esq.") for payment of £12 to Mr. William Mosely. Connecticut Pay Table Office. 26 January 1782. -- Letter from a doctor in the Caribean island nation of "Dominica," to his brother in New York, including reference to 7 years in a "starving condition." 29 April 1783. -- SKIPWITH, Fulwar (1765-1839). Partly printed bill of exchange signed ("Fulwar Skipwith"), as American Counsel General, Paris. 16 December 1797. Skipwith was instrumental in negotiating the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and was the first and only governor of the Republic of Wet Florida.
