An English Oak and Marquetry Canopy Bed
17th Century and Later

Condition Report
Sturdy and ready to use. Incorporating elements of varying age likely from different furniture articles. The canopy appears to be late 17th or early 18th century and possibly a wall panel while the rails surrounding the canopy are modern. The turned balusters and their pedestal bases are likely 19th century and possibly modern. The headboard and the supports flanking it are late 17th or 18th century and possibly originally from the front of a coffer incorporating wall paneling. Worming, age cracks, and negligible chips throughout. Two open age cracks in the bottom of the headboard along with two small water marks. Side rails are modern with late 20th century brackets and struts added. Accepts a 72 x 50 inch mattress.
