NARDI, YELLOW GOLD, COLORED DIAMOND AND OBSIDIAN BEAD BLACKAMOOR NECKLACE

Consisting of a multistrand obsidian bead torsade necklace, the clasp depicting a carved male figure with yellow gold mounts with engraved detail containing round mixed cut yellow diamonds (origin of color not tested). 17 inches long.
Engraved: NARDI 750.
Stamp: 750 (Italian hallmark).
Gross weight: 43.90 dwt.

Nardi Gioielleria, founded in Venice in 1926, is now run by the third generation of the Nardi family. Well known for its finely crafted, primarily one-of-a-kind, Moorish heads, depicting carved sardonyx or ebony-faced princes, in gold robes and richly decorated turbans, whose symbolism is derived from 18th century Orientalist paintings.
