Lot Description
A Silver, Yellow Gold, Diamond, Garnet, Ruby and Enamel Double Mourning Brooch, Circa 1760,
consisting of a heart shape brooch with blue enamel surmounted with a yellow gold crown containing five round mixed cut rubies and 20 mixed cut diamonds, the silver surround containing alternating old European cut diamonds and mixed cut garnets, together with a curb link chain attaching a clover motif brooch with blue enamel surmounted with a flower motif containing five seed pearls and nine mixed cut diamonds, the reverse with glazed compartment containing a lock of hair.

The heart portion of the brooch measures approximately 1 1/4 inches by 1 1/8 inches. The clover motif portion measures approximately 7/8 inch by 3/4 inch. The chain measures approximately 2 1/2 inches long. There is a small portion on the clover section with loss of the blue enamel. There is some discoloration to the gold on the back of the heart shape portion. Superficial scratches to the metal are consistent with age and wear.
