Assiniboine Beaded Buffalo Hide Knife Sheath
fourth quarter 19th century
thread and sinew-sewn on thick hide, with fringe along one one edge accented by tin cones; banded design in colors of red white-heart, red, greasy yellow, translucent, white, translucent burgundy, and translucent teal
length 11-1/4 inches
Collected by Lieutenant Colonel Alfred A Farley (1849-1906) of the Royal Regiment of Artillery (later the Royal Canadian Artillery) near Battleford, Saskatchewan.
Condition Report
Overall good condition; harness leather backing separating from seam, with small tear in leather; fringe is a little on the dry side
